About The Painting

The painting "Semper Fi Sisters: A Legacy of Leadership" illustrates the connection of generations of women Marines from 1918-today. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder, on-line and en masse proudly moving forward with bold determination hallmark of women Marines.

  • We had such a tremendous response by the Women Marines Association at the unveiling September 1, 2018 at the Women’s Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery! The painting will be on display in the Commandant’s Office at Headquarters Marine Corps through November 2018.

Sherry Porter Tomley

It all started as a way to honor a fellow woman Marine at our 30-year class reunion.

Sherry Porter Tomley was the honor graduate of our platoon in H-86 at The Basic School. She excelled at everything and did so with dignity and grace! Beyond that she was a friend to all and always had time to lend a hand, offer advice or share a laugh. Her military record is one of distinction and her legacy lives on!
